Quick-Start & Troubleshooting Guide: E.S.E. Pod Espresso Machine
Welcome! Follow these simple steps to make a fresh, authentic Italian espresso in under a minute.

How to Brew the Perfect Espresso

1. Check the Water

Ensure the water reservoir at the back has enough fresh water.
Note: Never run the machine empty.

2. Turn the Machine On

Flip the Power Switch to ON.
Wait a few moments for the heating indicator light to turn on (or off, depending on your model), showing the machine has reached brewing temperature.

3. Insert the Coffee Pod

Lift the main handle fully UP to open the brew chamber.
Place one single E.S.E. paper pod flat and centered in the pod holder.
Important: Do not tear or remove the paper filter wrapper. The entire pod goes in as is.

4. Lock It Down

Pull the lever handle down firmly until it locks into place.
This creates a tight seal so the high pressure can extract your coffee properly.

5. Brew & Enjoy!

Place your cup under the coffee spout.
Press the Brew Switch.
Once your cup is filled to your desired level (around 25–30ml for a classic single shot), press the Brew Switch again to stop the flow.

6. Clear the Pod

Immediately after brewing, lift the lever handle UP and remove the used pod. Drop it in the bin—E.S.E. paper pods are fully compostable!
Close the lever gently.

Quick Troubleshooting Tips

Pod stuck to top screen / paper stuck to brass plate
A used pod was left in the machine and dried out/baked onto the internal brass plate.
Do not scrape with sharp tools. With the lever fully open, press the Brew Switch for 2–3 seconds to run hot water over the screen. The water instantly rehydrates the paper so it falls off cleanly.

Water leaking around the pod
Handle isn't locked down tightly, or pod is misaligned.
Lift the lever, re-center the paper pod flat in the basket, and lock the handle down firmly.

No water coming out / machine is loud
Water tank is empty or unseated.
Check that the water tank at the back is filled with fresh water and pressed down firmly into its base.

Coffee tastes lukewarm
Machine was used immediately after turning on.
Allow the machine 1–2 minutes after switching on to reach full brewing temperature before making a shot.

Quick Daily Care & Hygiene

Remove Used Pods Immediately: Leaving a wet pod in the chamber after brewing can bake the paper onto the internal brass plate. Always remove your pod right after brewing!

Wipe Down: If coffee splashes onto the spout or drip tray, give it a quick wipe with a damp paper towel.

Empty the Drip Tray: If you notice the drip tray filling up with water, carefully slide it out, dump it in the sink, and slide it back in.

Machine Descaling Instructions

Frequency: Every 2–3 months (or every 200–300 coffees) to remove mineral build-up and maintain optimal brewing pressure.

Prepare the Machine:

Turn the machine OFF.Empty and rinse the water tank, then refill it with 1L of fresh water mixed with a liquid coffee descaler or citric acid solution.Place a large mug or container under the coffee spout.

Run the Descaling Cycle:

Turn the machine ON and allow it to reach operating temperature.Keep the brew chamber empty (no coffee pod inserted) and lock the lever down firmly.Press the Brew Switch to run roughly 150–200ml of the solution into your container, then switch it off.Wait 10–15 minutes to let the solution sit inside the internal brass architecture to dissolve scale.Repeat this process (run water for 15 seconds, pause for 5 minutes) until the water tank is empty.

Rinse & Flush Thoroughly:

Wash the water tank with clean water and fill it to the top with fresh water.Lock the empty lever down and press the Brew Switch.Run the entire tank of clean water through the spout in one continuous cycle to flush out any remaining descaling agent.
